Reconstruction & Potential Cycling on Willowdale Ave – Important Public Meeting – Monday May 13/19
May 7, 2019
This fall 2019, the City of Toronto will be reconstructing Willowdale Avenue from Finch Avenue East to Empress Avenue and potentially installing a new buffered bike lane from Bishop Avenue to Empress Avenue. Willowdale Avenue was adopted as a cycling route by City Council in 2016 as part of a 10-year cycling infrastructure plan to improve the cycling network across Toronto. Councillor Filion (our Councillor) is a supporter of active transportation infrastructure allowing for more walking and cycling in the Willowdale community It is also a potential opportunity to narrow a wide road that has become very dangerous with speeding cars. Narrowing the road, lowering the speed limit and adding traffic signals, and perhaps eventually photo-radar enforcement, will hopefully help keep both pedestrians and cyclists safe through this corridor. The City of Toronto is hosting a public drop-in event on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Earl Haig Secondary School (100 Princess Ave). This is a chance to view information materials, speak with the project team and provide your feedback.
